#5 Fulton-Montgomery Eliminates Northampton from National Tournament

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - The 13th seeded Northampton women's volleyball team saw their 2023 campaign come to a close on Friday afternoon with a 3-1 loss to #5 Fulton-Montgomery Community College at the NJCAA National Tournament.

Region 19 Player of the Year Ayana Bomani (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) recorded 12 kills and 15 digs in her final match as a Spartan, while fellow sophomores Joy Wetzel (Bath, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) had 9 kills and Safiya Goodridge (Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mt. West) registered 6.

Kailen Felty (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove) led the defense with 28 digs and added 8 kills, while Mackenzie Davis (Warsaw, VA/Rappahannock (VA)) notched 25 digs.

"I'm so proud of these young ladies," remarked Head Coach Rachel Caywood, "obviously we didn't perform quite as well as we wanted here in Cedar Rapids, but that doesn't diminish what they accomplished this season."

The Spartans, who were competing in their 7th NJCAA National Tournament in program history, finish the season 15-2 overall, while Fulton-Montgomery improves to 24-1.
