PARAMUS, NJ - The 15th ranked Northampton men's basketball team picked up their 2nd Region 19 win of the season, downing Bergen Community College 78-55 on Tuesday evening at the Dawg Pound.
The Spartans jumped out to a 38-23 halftime lead and held the Bulldogs to just 29% shooting on the night in securing the 23 point victory.
Despite getting outscored 15 to 1 from the foul line, Northampton used a strong defensive effort and a 49-38 advantage on the boards to top Bergen.
"Another good Region road win for us," stated Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "we are playing a little different style than we have the past few years, but I think we are starting to gel and find an identity with this new group."
CJ Miles (Bangor, PA/Bangor) led the Spartans with 17 points, while
Elijah Hamilton (Atglen, PA/Octorara Jr/Sr) added 11 points and 6 rebounds and
Keein Ward (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna Township) was in double figures with 10 points and and 8 boards.
Northampton moves to 2-3 overall and 2-0 in Region 19, while Bergen falls to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the Region.
The Spartans are now off until Saturday when they travel to Toms River, NJ to face Ocean County College at 2pm.
