Box Score BLACKWOOD, NJ - Camden County College took a 16 point lead to the locker room at halftime and were able to hold on in the second half to upset 7th ranked Northampton, 71-59, on Tuesday evening at the Joseph Papiano Gymnasium.
The Cougars held Northampton to 18 first half points, but the Spartans were able to bounce back in the second half, cutting the deficit to just 63-54 with 2:25 remaining in the contest, before Camden was able to close out the victory.
"Credit Camden, they are well-coached and always play hard," commented Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "as I have said in the past, this is arguably the toughest Region in the country, so every night is a battle and you have to come ready to play. We got off to a slow start and Camden took advantage of that."
Elijah Hamilton (Atglen, PA/Octorara Jr/Sr) led the Spartans with 21, while
Nile Mosby (Philadelphia, PA/Carver Engineering & Sciences) chipped in with 10.
The loss drops Northampton to 11-3 overall and 7-1 in Region 19.
The Cougars improve to 8-4 overall and 7-2 in Region 19, with their only two losses at the hands of #1 Brookdale and #5 Montgomery.
Northampton will close out the semester on Saturday when they host #5 Montgomery County Community College at 2pm.
