Box Score BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 10th ranked Northampton men's basketball team won their 9th consecutive game on Tuesday evening, downing the Phantoms of Delaware County, 85-65, at the Arthur L. Scott Center, improving to 6-0 in Region 19.
Delaware, who finished 25 of 36 from the charity stripe, was limited to just 17 field goals by the stingy Northampton defense. The Spartans had 18 field goals in the first half as they built a 49-27 lead. "We jumped on them early and really set the tone for the game," remarked Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "our defense did a good job closing out and forcing turnovers."
CJ Miles (Bangor, PA/Bangor) led the Spartans with 22 points, while
Elijah Hamilton (Atglen, PA/Octorara Jr/Sr) finished with 17 and
Nate Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) added 13.
The victory moves Northampton to 9-2 overall, 6-0 in Region 19 and 4-0 in the EPAC.
Delaware falls to 4-6 overall, 4-5 in Region 19 and 2-4 in conference play.
The Spartans hit the road on Thursday for a a short trip across the Valley to face Lehigh Carbon Community College at 7pm.
