Box Score NEWTON, NJ - The 4th ranked Northampton men's basketball team used a strong defensive effort and an efficient offensive attack to down the Sussex Skylanders, 82-47, on Tuesday evening at the Skylander Center for their 13th consecutive victory.
CJ Miles (Bangor, PA/Bangor) led the Spartans with 20 points, while
Titus Wilkins (Easton, PA/Executive Education Academy Charter) added 13 and
Mike Marable (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna) chipped in with 12.
"We knew they could shoot it, so we were focused on getting out on the shooters and making them put the ball on the floor," stated Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "they hit us early with that 13-2 run, but once we settled down I thought we found a good rhythm and did a good job at the defensive end."
The Skylanders finished with just 16 made field goals, while Northampton converted 35 field goals, including 6 from distance.
The win propels Northampton to 22-2 overall and 15-1 in Region 19.
Sussex falls to 9-14 overall and 8-12 in the Region.
The Spartans hit the road Thursday for a national top-15 showdown, as they travel to RCSJ-Gloucester to face the 14th ranked Roadrunners at the RAC. Game time is set for 7pm.
Northampton is now 15-1 all-time vs. Sussex.
