BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's volleyball team downed undefeated Ocean County College, 3-0, on Saturday at the Arthur L. Scott Center, snapping the Vikings 8-game winning streak.
"We really played well today," remarked Head Coach
Rachael Caywood, "the guys were really focused on this match, they didn't feel as though they played up to their potential when we lost at Ocean, so their focus today was exceptional. I'm really proud of their effort today."
Aidan Fleming (Easton, PA/Easton) had 12 kills, 2 solo blocks and 2 block assists,
Ramon Romero (San Pedro Sula, Honduras/Liceo Billingue) notched 11 kills, 8 digs, and 3 solo blocks, and
Alexander Schoenen (Northampton, PA/Northampton) recorded 5 kills, 5 digs, 6 solo blocks and 2 block assists.
After falling at Ocean on March 13th in straight sets; 25-13, 28-26, 25-22, the Spartans reversed fortunes on Saturday, sweeping the Vikings 25-18, 25-19, 25-13.
Josiah Melendez (Allentown, PA/William Allen) registered 29 assists to go along with 19 digs and 4 kills for Northampton.
The Spartans, now 8-1 overall, travel to Atlantic Cape Community College on Monday to close out their season.
Ocean falls to 8-1 with the loss.
