Baseball Moves to 6-0 on the Season with Two More Wins Sunday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Northampton Baseball team picked up two more wins on Sunday, downing Danville Area Community College, 4-0, and Penn State DuBois, 4-3, at the Ripken Experience.

GAME ONE - Danville Area Community College (Won 4-0)
Ryan Gordon (New Cumberland, PA/Red Land) picked up his 2nd win of the season with another gem, allowing no runs on 4 hits over 6 innings while striking out 5 and walking 1.  Austin Beard (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) finished off the 7th inning, allowing no runs and no hits. 

Jeffrey Sabater (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) led the offense with a 3 for 4 performance, including a double and 2 runs scored.  Luke Spencer (Dallas, PA/Lake-Lehman) was 2 for 3 with a RBI and Jake Hendershot (Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan (NJ)) went 1 for 3 with a walk and 2 RBI, as the Spartans outhit Danville, 8 to 4. 

GAME TWO - Penn State DuBois (Won 4-3)
In game two, Patrick Flynn (Easton, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) and Jake Black (Bethlehem, PA/Elizabethtown) combined to hold PSU to 3 runs on 6 hits over 7 innings.  Black recorded 5 strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work. 

Jeffrey Sabater (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) once again set the table for the Spartans, finishing 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 runs scored, Jake Hendershot (Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan (NJ)) went 2 for 3 with RBI and Gabe Caso (Califon, NJ/West Morris Central (NJ)) hit his first collegiate homerun to lead the offense. 

Northampton, ranked 11th in the NJCAA Division III preseason poll, improves to 6-0 on the season.

The Spartans are back in action on Monday in day three of their spring trip, as they are scheduled to face Henry Ford Community College at 3pm.
