Box Score BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 13th ranked Northampton baseball team rallied from a 3-1 deficit to down Camden County College, 8-3, on Tuesday afternoon at Spartan Park in a non-conference matchup.
Patrick Flynn (Easton, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) improved to 2-1 on the season, retiring 12 straight batters in 4 innings of scoreless relief of starter
Jeff Erschen (Walnutport, PA/Northampton).
Jake Black (Bethlehem, PA/Elizabethtown) and
Ryan Gordon (New Cumberland, PA/Red Land) combined to throw 4 innings of scoreless relief, with Black striking out 6 in two innings of work.
The Spartans exploded for 5 runs in the bottom of the 2nd, highlighted by a
Caleb Walker (Deposit, NY/Deposit Central (NY)) solo homerun, to take a 6-3 lead.
Northampton added two runs in the 7th, as
Ben Boyer (Kempton, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) laced a RBI single, and later scored on a sacrifice fly from
Luke Spencer (Dallas, PA/Lake-Lehman).
Jeffrey Sabater (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) finished 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored,
Shane Fillman (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) was 2 for 2 and
Cole McGourty (Asbury, NJ/Voorhees (NJ)) was 1 for 2 with a double and a RBI.
The win moves Northampton to 17-9 overall.
The Spartans are on the road Wednesday as they travel to NJCAA Division II Raritan Valley Community College for a single 9 non-conference matchup.
