Box Score BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton baseball team scored 19 runs on 17 hits to down NJCAA Division II Raritan Valley Community College, 19-5, on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup at Spartan Park.
Daniel McEvoy (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) earned the win on the mound, improving to 2-0 on the year, allowing 5 runs (3 earned), scattering 11 hits over 7 innings of work.
The Spartan offense was led by
Shane Fillman (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) who finished 4 for 4 with a homerun, 5 RBI and 4 runs scored.
Leading 8-2 after 2 innings, the Spartans scored 10 runs in the 4th to put the game away.
Jeffrey Sabater (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) was 3 for 4 with a double, 3 runs scored and 2 RBI,
Cole McGourty (Asbury, NJ/Voorhees (NJ)) finished 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI and
Josh Herman (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) was 1 for 4, including a 3-run homerun in the bottom of the 4th inning, and added 4 RBI.
The Spartans improve to 22-12 overall, while Raritan Valley falls to 3-27 overall.
Northampton is back in action on Friday as they open their Region 19 series with Ocean County College. Game one is scheduled for 3:30pm in Bethlehem, while games two and three will be contested in Toms River, NJ on Saturday.
