Box Score NEWTON, NJ - The Skylanders of Sussex County Community College picked up a Region 19 victory on Saturday afternoon, upsetting the 7th ranked Spartans, 72-65, in a Region 19 men's basketball contest at the Skylander Athletic Center. 

Sussex outscored Northampton 44-36 in the second half, after trailing by 1 at intermission, to earn the win.  "Sussex played hard, and we simply didn't make the plays we needed to make," remarked Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "we need to get back to work and prepare for a conference matchup at Delaware County on Tuesday."

Arkel Batts (Middletown, PA/Middletown) paced the Spartans with 17 points, followed by Naeem Purnell (Darby, PA/Penn Wood) and Elijah Hamilton (Atglen, PA/Octorara Jr/Sr) both with 12. 

PJ Ross led the Sussex attack with 23 points, including 4 3-pointers.  Sussex finished 26 of 35 from the line, while the Spartans were 15 of 19. 

The Region 19 loss drops Northampton to 13-5 overall and 8-3 in Region 19. 

Sussex improves to 10-5 overall and 9-3 in the Region.

The Spartans are back on the road on Tuesday when they head to Philadelphia to face the Phantoms of Delaware County Community College at 7pm.
