BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton women's volleyball team saw their 2024 season come to an abrupt end on Wednesday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center, as the 4th seeded Spartans fell to #5 Harrisburg, 19-25, 27-25, 22-25, 22-25 in the NJCAA East District semifinals.
Lexi Womack (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) had 15 kills and 20 digs,
Leana Angelone (Coopersburg, PA/Faith Christian Academy) notched 43 assists and
Kailen Felty (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove) recorded 9 kills, 20 digs and 6 blocks.
The loss was the first for Northampton to Harrisburg since September 8, 2022. "We just never fully got on track tonight," commented Head Coach
Rachael Aquila, "credit Harrisburg and Coach Frye, they came on the road and beat us."
Mackenzie Davis (Warsaw, VA/Rappahannock (VA)) finished with 16 digs in her final match as a Spartan and
Alyssa Eilenberger (Saylorsburg, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) posted 13 kills, 16 digs and 9 blocks.
The Spartans finish the 2024 campaign at 16-7, achieving a national rank as high as #13 during the season.
Harrisburg, now 17-10, advances to the East District championship on Saturday at Northampton, where they will face top-seeded Bergen at 12pm.
