Box Score 2 MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The 12th ranked Northampton baseball team picked up two victories on Saturday, downing PSU-DuBois 5-4 and PSU-Schuylkill 11-0, on day one of their spring trip at the Ripken Complex.
GAME ONE vs. PSU-DuBois (Won 5-4)
In game one the Spartans jumped out to lead of 3-1 after 5 innings and then added 2 in the 6th to hold off PSU-DuBois.
Ethan Woods (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) got the win on the bump, going 5.2 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits, striking out 3 and walking 1.
Braden Cummings (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) led the offense with a 2 for 4 performance with a double and a RBI, while
Manuel Barroso (Puerto Rico/Beltran Academy (PR)) added a triple and a RBI for the Spartans.
GAME TWO vs. PSU-Schuylkill (Won 11-0)
Braden Cummings (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) continued to swing a hot bat in game two, finishing 2 for 3 with a RBI, while
Cody Miller (Oxford, NJ/Warren Hills (NJ)) smashed a homerun, collecting 2 RBI and scoring 2 runs.
Brody Hinkle (Wrightsville, PA/Eastern York) added 2 RBI and a triple, as the Spartans finished with 7 hits.
Ellis Snow (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) threw 6 innings of scoreless baseball, limiting Penn State to just 3 hits.
Aaron Clark (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) pitched the 7th inning in relief, striking out 3 batters.
The two victories move Northampton to 4-0 on the season.
The Spartans will be back in action on Sunday at noon vs. New River Community College (NC) and 3pm vs the College of DuPage (IL).
