GLEN ELLYN, IL - The Northampton men's volleyball team went 1-1 on the opening day of the NJCAA Invitational at the College of Dupage.
MATCH ONE vs. Atlantic Cape (Won 3-0)
The Spartans swept Region 19 foe Atlantic Cape Community College in their first match, 27-25, 25-21, 25-22.
Alex Schoenen (Northampton, PA/Northampton) had 8 kills, 6 digs and 8 block assists,
Ramon Romero (San Pedro Sula, Hondurus/Liceo Billingue (HN)) added 8 kills and 11 digs and
Zach Franges (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) recorded 22 assists for the Spartans.Â
MATCH TWO vs. Bryand & Stratton (Lost 3-1)
In their second match, Northampton fell to Bryant & Stratton (WI) 3-1;Â Â 22-25, 16-25, 25-17, 17-25.Â
John Nice (Feasterville, PA/Neshaminy) notched 11 kills and 10 digs,
Mamadou Dieng (Conackry, Guinea/Lycee Alberts Camus) recorded 9 kills, 3 solo blocks and 7 block assists and
Ramon Romero (San Pedro Sula, Hondurus/Liceo Billingue (HN)) added 14 digs and 8 kills.Â
The Spartans, 16-2 overall, will next face the defending champion Lakers of Finger Lakes Community College (NY) on Saturday at noon. Competition continues through Sunday afternoon.Â
