BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's soccer team picked up their first victory of the 2024 season with a 13-1 win over Harrisburg Area Community College at the Spartan Soccer Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
Kayden Dowd opened the scoring for the Spartans, just 8 minutes into the contest, with an unassisted goal. Just 3 minutes later,
Hayden Burns (Bangor, PA/Bangor) netted Northampton's 2nd goal, assisted by
Wisdom Ntona (Johannesburg, South Africa/Queens).
The Spartans would go on to score 8 more goals in the first half vs. the undermanned Hawks, to take a 10-0 lead at halftime.Northampton added 3 second half tallies, to earn the 13-1 victory.
The Hawks got on the board in the 75th minute, converting a penalty kick from Beaudelson Elisme.
10 Spartans scored at least one goal, led by
Wisdom Ntona (Johannesburg, South Africa/Queens), who finished with 3 goals and 2 assists.
The win moves Northampton to 1-1-0 overall, 1-1-0 in Region 19 and 1-0-0 in the EPAC.
Harrisburg falls to 0-2-0 overall.
The Spartans are back in action on Thursday, when they travel to Branchburg, NJ to face Raritan Valley Community College.
