BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team shot 65% in the first half en route to a 28-point halftime advantage and then coasted to a 94-65 victory over Sussex County Community College on Saturday afternoon at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The Spartans knocked down 22 of 34 shots in the opening 20 minutes, including 7 of 11 from deep, to take a 53-25 lead to the locker room.
Nate Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/LIberty) finished with 19 points, including 5 of 9 from behind the arc, while
Ethan Sakwa (Tobyhanna, PA/Pocono Mountain West) added 22 points and 6 assists.Â
The Spartans shot 58.5% for the game overall and 47.6% from 3-point range.Â
Josh Washington (Bethlehem, PA/Executive Charter) had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds and
Ameer Herran (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) added 12 points.Â
The win moves Northampton to 13-2 overall and 8-2 in Region 19.Â
Sussex falls to 4-11 overall and 4-7 in the Region.
The Spartans travel to Philadelphia on Tuesday to face nationally-ranked CCP at 7pm.Â
