Women's Volleyball Marches to 18-0 with Tri-Match Sweep

PARAMUS, NJ - The Northampton Women's Volleyball team extended their unbeaten streak to 18 with a tri-match sweep of Atlantic Cape and Bergen on Saturday afternoon at the Bulldog Athletic Center.

Match One vs Atlantic Cape - Won 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-5)

Freshman Outside Hitter Kyra Miller (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) recorded 10 kills, 3 service aces and 2 digs along with Sophomore Lexi Womack (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) adding 8 kills, 5 aces and 8 digs to lead the charge for the Spartans. Freshman Middle Hitter Sophia Tyma (Bethlehem, PA/Lehigh Valley Academy) recorded 6 kills and 3 blocks while Setter Samantha Nagy (Easton, PA/Easton) spread the offense with 25 assists, 2 service aces and 5 digs. Libero Gianna Sciarra (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) turned in 24 digs and 2 service aces in the Spartans first win of the day.

Atlantic Cape falls to 4-9 overall with the loss.

Match Two vs Bergen - Won 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-19)

Sophomore Right Side Zoe Velez (Landville, PA/Warwick) recorded 8 kills and 1 Dig to lead the offense in the second match of the day for the Spartans. Sophia Tyma (Bethlehem, PA/Lehigh Valley Academy) had 5 kills and 1 block while Freshman Middle Hitter Grace Coppola (Allentown, PA/Central Catholic) added 3 kills, 2 digs and 1 block. Freshman Defensive Specialist Emily Marcial (Allentown, PA/Executive Charter) recorded 23 digs and 5 aces while Samantha Nagy (Easton, PA/Easton) collected 29 assists, 1 service ace and 9 digs to complete the day.

Bergen Community College is now 7-7 overall with the loss.

The Spartans, ranked #8 in the NJCAA national poll, improve to 18-0 overall with the victories. 

The Spartans are back in action on Monday, October 6th when they travel to Bryn Mawr, PA to take on NJCAA DII opponent Harcum College at the OMGC Arena at 6:30pm.
