Women's Volleyball Punches Ticket To Iowa

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton Women's Volleyball team captured the NJCAA East A District championship with a 25-20, 25-9, 25-18 sweep over Raritan Valley Community College to punch their ticket back to the NJCAA national tournament on Saturday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.

The victory is the 8th District and 10th Region 19 championship in Northampton Volleyball program history and secures the Spartans a place at the NJCAA national championship tournament held November 13th thru November 15th in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

"I could not be more proud of our team," beamed Spartans Head Coach Rachael Aquila, "This has been our goal since the end of last season. This has been our focus from the start of camp this Fall and we did it. I am so excited to see our team have this experience of playing at the national tournament and I am so happy to see them capture their championship tonight."

Region 19 Player of the Year Lexi Womack (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) led the Spartans with 9 kills and 14 digs and Freshman Middle Hitter Sophia Tyma (Bethlehem, PA/Lehigh Valley Academy) recorded 8 kills, 2 digs and 4 blocks. Right Side Zoe Velez (Landville, PA/Warwick) added 4 kills and 3 blocks to help aid the front line effort and Gianna Sciarra (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) came up big again in the back row with 24 digs, 5 service aces and 1 assist.

Sophomore Setter Samantha Nagy (Easton, PA/Easton) was named the Tournament MVP, collecting 24 assists, 6 digs and 3 blocks.

Head Coach Rachael Aquila was named the Region 19 and NJCAA District Coach of the Year for the 3rd time, capturing the honors in 2022, 2023 and 2025.

The Spartans advance to the NJCAA National Tournament with a 28-1 mark. Raritan Valley finishes their season at 13-16 overall.

The Spartans will now wait for the National Tournament seedings to be announced Tuesday, November 4th on the NJCAA Network.
