#5 Spartans Soar Past Phantoms, 98-51

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The nationally ranked Northampton Men's Basketball team extended their unbeaten streak to 9 games on Tuesday night, soaring past visiting Delaware County Community College in convincing fashion, outscoring the Phantoms, 98-51, at the Arthur L. Scott Center.

The win improves the 5th ranked Spartans to 9-0 and rolling into the Thanksgiving holiday break on a red hot start to the 2025-26 campaign.

"Strong effort tonight," stated Spartans Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "Very pleased with how things are going and thought tonight we really hit on all phases. It's early and we have some big match ups coming up but I like where we are right now. Real good effort overall tonight."

The Spartans jumped on the Phantoms out of the gate and carried the momentum right through the first half, taking a 52-31 lead into the intermission. Northampton came out strong again in the second half, keeping the built momentum and outscoring the Phantoms, 46-20, cruising to the big win, 98-51.

Sophomore guard Jahad Marable (Philadelphia, PA/Science Leadership Academy - Beeber) led the Spartans with his season high 24 points, shooting 10-11 (90.9%) from the floor and grabbing 6 rebounds. Guard Kevin Rucker (Philadelphia, PA/Monsignor Bonner Prendergast) scored 15 points and had 5 rebounds while sophomore forward Aiden Brown (Philadelphia, PA/Math Civic and Science Charter) hit for 13 points and 6 rebounds off the Bench. Mekhi Shillingford (Philadelphia, PA/Penn Wood High School) added 12 points and 9 rebounds with freshman Julian Bair (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg High School) scoring 8 points and bringing down a game high 13 boards in the win.

Northampton improves to 9-0 overall and 6-0 in Region 19. The Spartans are on a 15-game win streak over the Phantoms dating back to 2017.

Delaware County falls to 1-6 overall and 1-6 in the Region.

The Spartans will be back on the floor on Tuesday, December 2nd when they travel to Blackwood, NJ to take on the Cougars of Camden County College at 7pm at Joseph Papiano Gymnasium.
