BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 5th ranked Northampton Baseball dropped their Region 19 series to #1 RCSJ-Gloucester, losing games two and three on Saturday at Spartan Park.
GAME TWO - Lost 12-8
The Spartans fell behind early, as the Roadrunners smashed a grand-slam in the top of the 1st and took a 4-0 lead. Northampton battled back, tying the game at 4-4 after 3 innings, but RCSJ-Gloucester extended their lead to 9-5 entering the 7th, and held on for the win.
Jared Diefenbach (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) took the loss, with 5 innings of work, allowing 8 runs on 10 hits with 2 walks and 7 K's.
Jayson Ehrhart (Pottstown, PA/Springford) threw the final 2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 2 hits, with 4 free passes.
Danny Qualteria (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) went 4 for 4 with 2 runs scored and a double,
Cody Miller (Oxford, NJ/Warren Hills (NJ)) was 2 for 4 and
Nick Stettner (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) finished 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.
GAME THREE - Lost 12-0
In game three of the series the Spartans only managed 2 hits, singles by
Kyle Stoner (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township (NJ)) and
James LaBella (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)), as they fell to the top-ranked Roadrunners, 12-0.
Nathan Mostosky (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) took the loss, allowing 6 runs on 5 hits in 1.1 innings of work.
Ellis Snow (Harrisburg, PA/Lower Dauphin),
Aaron Clark (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty),
John Pushkar (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) and
Brad Rissmiller (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl) combined to throw the final 5.2 innings.
Northampton falls to 13-9 overall and 7-4 in Region 19.
RCSJ-Gloucester improves to 24-2 overall and 14-0 in the Region.
The Spartans host nationally-ranked Brookdale on Monday at 3:30pm in a single 9-inning game, which was rescheduled from earlier in the month. The Spartans have already clinched the series, with victories in games one and two.
