CRANFORD, NJ - The Northampton men's volleyball team dropped the Region 19 Championship match on Saturday, falling to top-seeded Union County College 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 22-25, 21-25) at the Owls Nest in Cranford.
Omarion Tembo (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) recorded 11 kills,
Fred Patton (Trexlertown, PA/Parkland) had 10 kills and
John Nice (Feasterville, PA/Neshaminy) added 10 kills and 11 digs for the Spartans.
"Credit Union, they played very well," stated Head Coach
Rachael Aquila, "always tough to lose in a championship setting, but we will regroup and get prepared for Nationals."
Zach Franges (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) notched 35 assists and
Matthew Gonzalez (Coopersburg, PA/Liberty) contributed 13 digs and 2 assists.Â
The Spartans fall to 14-4 overall, while Union improves to 22-6.
Next up for the Spartans is a trip to the NJCAA National Invitational at Finger Lakes Community College, April 4th - 6th, in Canandaigua, New York.Â
