Yaguez Breaks Record As Spartans Top Bergen

PARAMUS, NJ - Veteran Head Coach Adrian Yaguez became Northampton's all-time winningest baseball coach, picking up win number 434 on Tuesday afternoon, as the Spartans topped Bergen County College, 12-2, at Bulldog Field.  Yaguez, 434-222 in 17 seasons, eclipsed Northampton Hall of Famer John Sweeney, who finished his career with an overall record of 433-183 in 20 seasons.

The Spartans jumped out to a 10-0 lead and then cruised to the run-rule shortened 12-2 victory.  Brad Rissmiller (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl) earned the win on the mound, pitching 6.0 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, striking out 6 and walking 2.  Ellis Snow (Harrisburg, PA/Lower Dauphin) pitched the 7th inning, striking out all 3 Bulldogs he faced to close out the game.

Cody Miller (Oxford, NJ/Warren Hills (NJ)) finished 2 for 4 with a double, triple and 3 RBI, while Lincoln Hower (Kintnersville, PA/Faith Christian) was 3 for 4 with 4 runs scored and 2 RBI to lead the Spartan offense.  Peter Hrousis (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) added 4 hits, as the Spartans finished with 13 hits on the day.

The win moves Northampton to 17-16 overall and 11-11 in Region 19.
