Spartans Fall in Series Finale to #7 Brookdale

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - In a game that took over two weeks to complete, the 4th ranked Northampton baseball team dropped the finale of their 3-game series to #7 Brookdale, 4 to 2, on Thursday afternoon at Spartan Park.

Originally scheduled for March 17th, the single 9-inning game of the 3-game series between Northampton and Brookdale was postponed numerous times due to weather, before the two perennial powerhouses could finally complete the series.  The Spartans took both games of the doubleheader on March 18th.

Northampton led 1-0 entering the 5th, but the Jersey Blues were able to scrape together 4 runs in the top half of the inning, which proved to be more than enough offense for the victory.

Cooper Natisin (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) took the loss, despite not allowing any earned runs over his 5 innings of work.  Brookdale scored 4 unearned runs off Natisin, as he allowed just 2 hits and struck out 5.  Aaron Clark (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) and Jason Ehrhart each pitched 2.0 innings in relief, combining to strike out 6, while allowing no runs and just 1 hit.

Cody Miller (Oxford, NJ/Warren Hills (NJ)) paced the offense with a 2 for 4 performance, while Kyle Stoner (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township (NJ)) finished 1 for 3 and Shane Henrick (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) was 1 for 4.

The loss drops Northampton to 15-10 overall and 9-5 in Region 19.

Brookdale improves to 20-4 overall and 13-3 in the Region.

The Spartans are back on the field Friday as they host RCSJ-Cumberland in game one of their 3-game weekend series.
