Errors Cost 12th Ranked Spartans in Loss to Salem

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 12th ranked Northampton baseball team fell 8-1 to Salem Community College on Wednesday afternoon at Spartan Park, committing an uncharacteristic six errors in the loss. 

Cody Miller (Oxford, NJ/Warren Hills (NJ)) led a 7-hit attack with a 3 for 4 performance, knocking in Northampton's only run.  Braden Cummings (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown), Kyle Stoner (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township (NJ)), Jose Rivera (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) and Shane Henrick (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) each added singles. 

Cooper Natisin (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) took the loss, throwing 4.0 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts.  Jared Diefenbach (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) and JJ Cruz (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) each threw in relief, Diefenbach worked 4.1 innings, allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 4 hits, with 4 walks and 8 K's.  Cruz worked the final 0.2 inning.

The loss drops Northampton to 9-9 in Region 19 and 15-14 overall. 

Salem improves to 11-5 in the Region and 15-16 overall. 

The Spartans are off until Saturday when they are scheduled to host the Monroe University (NJCAA Division I) JV team in a single 9-inning game scheduled for 1pm.
