SCRANTON, Pa. - The Northampton Men's Wrestling team competed at the University of Scranton Dual Meet on Saturday afternoon against meet host University of Scranton and NJCAA opponent Sussex County Community College at the John Long Center.
The Spartans fell short in their opening match of the day, suffering a setback against the University of Scranton, 51-6. The Spartans lone points came when
Xavier Arner (Schnecksville, PA/Whitehall) was victorious over Konstantinos Mavrikidis by Medical Forfeit at 149lbs..
Northampton bounced back in their second match of the day, picking up a victory over Sussex County Community College, 20-19.
Joel Guerrero (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) picked up a forfeit win at 125 against the Skylanders and
Xavier Arner (Schnecksville, PA/Whitehall) was victorious over Gavin Pych at 157, 16-5.
Kristopher Xian (Pottstown, PA/Pottsgrove Area) defeated Aidan Hallowich by Fall at 3:55 of the second period. Heavyweight
Sencee Dikenah (Swarthmore, PA/Ridley) picked up a 3-2 win over Milan Nikolin for the Spartans.
"Good opportunity to get out and wrestle in a nice venue," explained Spartans Head Coach
Nick Haegele, "The season is winding down and our focus to get our team and wrestlers ready for Districts. This was a good overall day. Tough matches and another opportunity to see where we stand."

Northampton now 1-3 in Dual Meet competition.
The Spartans are back in action on Tuesday, February 3rd when they travel to Scranton, PA to take on Lackawanna College in a Dual Meet at 6pm at the Student Union Gymnasium.
The Spartans Dual Meet with Union College of New Jersey scheduled for this Tuesday, January 27th at the Arthur L. Scott Center has been postponed and will be rescheduled. Please check nccspartans.com for a pending announcement on the reschedule date.
