2/7/2026 11:44:00 AM

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's wrestling team fell to visiting Union College of New Jersey, 28-21, in Region 19 Dual Meet action on Saturday morning at the Arthur L. Scott Center.

The Spartans picked up a win by sophomore Xavier Arner (Schnecksville, PA/Whitehall) with a 10-6 Decision over Vincent Capone in 149 lb. weight class action. Cesar Acosta (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) (165 lb.), Kristopher Xian (Pottstown, PA/Pottsgrove Area) (174 lb.) and Sencee Dikenah (Swarthmore, PA/Ridley) (285 lb.) all registered Forfeit wins for Northampton.

"Not the overall result we wanted but otherwise a good opportunity to get on the mat and wrestle," explained Spartans Head Coach Nick Haegele, "Xavier looked strong in his match at 149 and I felt the rest of our lineup battled but we just fell short. We are building this program and appreciate the effort the team is putting forward. That is all we can ask as we continue to work towards our goals."

Northampton will be back in action next Saturday, February 14th at Lackawanna College for the NJCAA District Championship beginning at 9am at the Student Union Gymnasium.
