BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Northampton men's basketball coach Brennan McCarthy has been named Region 19 Coach of the Year, after leading his Spartans to the Region 19 / North Atlantic B District Championship on Saturday. 

McCarthy has guided the Spartans to a 26-4 overall record, a #2 national ranking, a conference championship, and Northampton's 2nd national tournament bid during the 2025-26 campaign. 

The Spartans, who earned the #2 seed for the Region 19 tournament, defeated #7 Bergen in the opening round and then dispatched perennial powerhouse Brookdale, 96-86, in the championship game. 

McCarthy, in his 11th full season on the sidelines, is 230-87 (73%) during his tenure with the Spartans 

Northampton will learn their seed and opening round opponent for the NJCAA national tournament on Wednesday at 6pm.   The national tournament will be held in Herkimer, NY, March 11th thru the 14th.
