COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA - The Northampton men's and women's wrestling program had wrestlers competing in the NJCAA national championships, in only their second season of NJCAA competition, on a busy Friday of collegiate wrestling action at the Mid-America Center.
Xavier Arner (Schnecksville, PA/Whitehall), two time District Champion at 149, along with freshman heavyweight
Sencee Dikenah (Swarthmore, PA/Ridley) represented Northampton in the men's bracket while sophomore
Sydnei Jones Proctor (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty), the first female to represent the Spartans at the wrestling national championships, was the lone Spartan in the women's bracket.
Xavier Arner (Schnecksville, PA/Whitehall) opened with a 15-2 major decision over Kasen Smith from Neosho County (D1) in the 149 bracket and fell by decision in his match-up with Kyron Zoet from Muskegon (D1), 4-2. Arner was defeated by Gunnar Johnson from Rochester (D3) by decision, 7-3, in his final match of the day.
Sencee Dikenah (Swarthmore, PA/Ridley) picked up a victory in his first match of the day with an, 8-2, decision over Avant Jackson from Northland (D3) at heavyweight. Dikenah was defeated by Marcel Gonzalez from Pratt (D1) by Fall and fell short against Anton Barynas, 4-0, of Muskegon (D1).
Arner and Dikenah both finished 1-2.
Sydnei Jones Proctor (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) fell to Ayanna Omollo, 5-0, of NIACC (D1) and was defeated by Kirsten Kpoto of Southeast Nebraska.
