BETHLEHEM, Pa.- The Northampton men's volleyball team fell in straight sets, 3-0, (10-25, 14-25, 21-25) on Monday evening to the nationally ranked Owls of Union College of Union County, New Jersey at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The Spartans, who have slipped to 0-5 on the season, were facing the 4th ranked Owls of UCNJ for the second time within a week.The Spartans fell to the Owls, 3-0, on Wednesday, March 4th.
"Tough match up against a very good team," stated Spartans Head Coach Rachael Aquila, "This is not the start we wanted but I feel we are continuing to improve each time we hit the floor. I thought we had some tough sets tonight and battled when we fell behind. We will continue to work to get things on track."
Luke Smith (Breiningsville, PA/Parkland) led the Spartans with 7 kills, 9 digs and 3 solo blocks.
Calvin Long (Allentown, PA/William Allen) had 5 kills, 1 assist with 7 digs and 3 blocks.
Lucas Johnson (Glendale, AZ/Independence (AZ)) had 12 assists and 7 digs while
Fred Patton (Trexlertown, PA/Parkland) recorded 11 digs.
Northampton falls to 0-5 overall and 0-5 in Region 19.
Union College of Union County, New Jersey improves to 13-4 overall and 6-1 in the Region.
The Spartans are back in action on Wednesday at 6pm when they host Atlantic Cape in a Region 19 match-up at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
