PARAMUS, NJ - Sophomore outfielder
Josh Brancy (Sparta. NJ/Sparta (NJ)) led a 21-hit offensive outburst as the Spartans upended Bergen Community College, 20-7, to open their Region 19 series on Friday afternoon at the Bulldogs Baseball Complex.
Juan Cruz (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) picked up the win on the mound, improving to (6-1) on the year, allowing 2 hits in 3.2 innings of work and fanning 4.
Jayson Ehrhart (Phoenixville, PA/Spring-Ford),
Gavin Panovec (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) and
Ben Warner (Alexandria, VA/Alexandria City (VA)) also saw work in relief behind Cruz in the run rule shortened victory.

The Spartans jumped out to a, 9-0, lead and seemed to be in control. Bergen was able to plate 5 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and cut the lead to, 9-5, but that was as close as it would get for the Bulldogs. Northampton was able to put up 11 more runs down the stretch and cruised to the, 20-7, win.
Josh Brancy (Sparta. NJ/Sparta (NJ)) finished the day going 4-4 with 4 runs scored a stolen base and a home run with 3 RBI.
Danny Qualteria (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown), who led off the game with his second home run of the season, was 4-5 with 4 runs scored and a double.
Matthew Tankred (East Greenville, PA/Southern Lehigh) was 3-5 with a pair of doubles and 3 RBI and
Joey Richards (Bath, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) was 3-5 with 4 RBI.
Max Landis (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) and Drew Muligan both had two hits for the Spartans.
Northampton improves to 25-14 overall and 16-8 in Region 19 with the victory.
Bergen Community College falls to 13-24 overall and 11-17 in the Region.
The Spartans, weather permitting, will be back on the field on Sunday, April 26th when they host Region 19 opponent Union College of New Jersey in a doubleheader at 12pm at Spartan Park.
The Spartans and Bulldogs will look to finish their Region 19 series on Monday, April 27th with a doubleheader scheduled for a 12pm start at Spartan Park.
