Steve Malitzki enters his 11th season as the Head Coach of the Northampton Golf team.

The Spartans are coming off their best season since joining the NJCAA, as the 2019 team qualified for the NJCAA National Tournament in Chautauqua, New York, where they finished 9th. In addition the Spartans placed four golfers on the All-Region team, led by JD Shiner (First Team), Chad Sodl (Second Team), Blake McNew (Second Team) and Nick Hinkle (Third Team) following their program-best 2nd place finish at the Region XIX Tournament.  Northampton also finished 2nd in the EPAC Tournament and placed five players on the All-Conference team: Nick Hinkle (First Team), Trevor Buss (First Team), Chad Sodl (Second Team), Blake McNew (Second Team) and JD Shiner (Second Team).

Fall 2017 was ultra-successful for the Spartans, as they captured all four tournaments that they entered, including the Fall 2017 EPAC Championship.  Four Spartans earned All Conference Honors: Nick Hinkle, Kevin Ryan, JD Shiner and Taylor Foust.  Spring 2018 saw the Spartans finish 3rd in the Region XIX Tournament, led by All Region selection JD Shiner.

The 2016-17 season was a roller coaster ride for the Spartans.  The team finished 3rd at the EPAC Championship in October at Golden Oaks, as John Bonge took home medalist honors, earning All Conference honors.  The team struggled to gel in the Spring, with only two golfers qualifying for Regionals.  Bonge finished 10th in the Regional Tournament to earn Third Team All Region Honors.

The Spartans finished 5th at the EPAC Championship in 2015-16, as Tom Archer and John Bonge each fired an 81.  First through fifth place in the final team standings were only separated by 6 strokes.  The Spartans finished 4th in the Region XIX tournament as Archer finished 7th overall, earning Second Team All Region Honors.  Archer became the first Northampton -golfer to earn back-to-back trips to the NJCAA National Tournament.

The 2014-15 season was highlighted by a return to Fall and Spring golf seasons by the EPAC conference, during which Luis Bedoya captured the EPAC individual championship at the Fall conference championship match, while Thomas Archer qualified for the NJCAA national tournament during the Spring, finishing in a tie for 36th place.  Archer was the third straight Northampton golfer to qualify for the national tournament.

2014 marked the second year as a member of Region XIX and the NJCAA and the Spartans captured their second consecutive EPAC championship, qualified for the Region XIX Tournament (where they finished 4th) and saw Jesse Bingaman win the Region XIX individual championship and finish 12th at the NJCAA national tournament.

The 2013 season marked the beginning of a new era for Northampton Golf, as they entered the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).  Under Malitzki's tutelage the team captured the Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference title, qualified for the Region Tournament and freshman Troy Heffelfinger qualified to compete at the NJCAA National championships in Jamestown, NY.

The move to the NJCAA also moved the golf season from Fall to Spring, thus the Spartans competed in the Fall of 2011 as a member of the EPCC and then had to wait until Spring 2013 before officially beginning NJCAA competition.

During the 2011 season, Coach Malitzki guided the Spartans to a 2nd place finish in the EPCC and a 4th place finish at the PCAA state tournament.  Freshman Steve Kluemper earned All-State and All-Conference honors.

In 2010, Malitzki led the Spartans to their first conference championship since 2002 and a third place finish at the State Tournament.  Freshman Richie Eilenberger captured medalist honors at the EPCC Championship and finished in a tie for 4th at the States.

In 2009 NCC finished 4th at the EPCC's and 6th in the State Tournament behind the play of Michael Hicks.

During his first season, Malitzki mentored freshman Chris Gill to EPCC All-Conference and PCAA All-State honors.  The Spartans finished 4th at the EPCC tournament and 5th at the PCAA state championships.

A graduate of Freedom High School, Malitzki resides in Bethlehem with his wife and two children.
