Karen Mattes has been a Professor of Biology at NCC since 2010 and teaches Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology 1, and Contemporary Biology. She is on the College Life Committee, CTLT Advisory Committee, Faculty Senate, and advises students during New Student Orientation Sessions over the summer.
She enjoys helping student athletes because she was one herself while an undergraduate at Moravian College. She played Division III Women’s Basketball from 1991-1994 and during her freshman year the team made it to the NCAA Division III Tournament Final Game (1992) and the Sweet 16 in 1993. She also played Women’s Softball her junior year.
Karen has found her passion in teaching students at NCC and attends sporting events to cheer on students as her professors did when she was at Moravian.
