TOMS RIVER, NJ - Freshman Gina Falco knocked down seven 3-pointers and scored 22 points, but it wasn't enough for NCC as they fell to Ocean County College, 83-74 on Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans as a team connected on 13 3-pointers and had four players in double figures, but the size of Ocean's front line proved to be too much for NCC to overcome.
Heather Neumann scored 28 points to pace Ocean, including a 10 for 11 performance from the charity stripe.
Northampton rebounded from a 42-30 halftime deficit to take a 66-65 lead midway through the second half, but ran out of gas down the stretch. "We exerted so much energy during the run to come back," explained Head Coach Art Wolfe, "we just had nothing left to close the door. I am very proud of how the girls played."
Ashley Slater scored 15 points, while Antoinette Wise and Linda Bookwalter each added 13 for Northampton.
NCC, now 1-6 overall and 1-1 in Region XIX, travels to Passaic County College on Tuesday November 24th.
