LINCROFT, NJ - The NCC men's basketball team picked up their fifth victory of the season, knocking off Brookdale Community College, 88-84, on Saturday afternoon.
Josh Vargas scored 25 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 4 assists and Richard Hollinger added 14 points on 7 for 12 shooting to lead the Spartans.
Trailing 41-39 at the half, the Spartans battled the Jersey Blues on their home floor throughout the second stanza, as Joey Bamford, Jamal Swindell and Brian Smith each scored in double figures to help NCC pull off the Region XIX road victory.
"This is a big win for us," stated Head Coach Kevin Foley, "Brookdale is a well-coached, talented team, I knew we would need a couple guys to step up today and I thought Bamford and Swindell really accepted that challenge."
NCC improves to 5-8 overall and 3-5 in Region XIX with one game remaining in the semester, as they host Camden County College on December 19th.
William McDonough scored 27 points to lead Brookdale.
