BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The NCC men's basketball is preparing to host the nation's number one ranked team, Bergen Community College, on Tuesday night.
Bergen, the defending Region XIX champions, enter Tuesday's matchup with a 9-0 record after defeating Atlantic Cape Community College, 91-76, on Saturday.
"I think it's great," remarked Head Coach Kevin Foley, "what an opportunity for us to play the number one team in the country. Bergen is very strong and very well-coached, they will be a touch matchup for us, but this is one of the main reasons we made the move to the NJCAA ... the opportunity to play the best."
The Bulldogs have five players averaging in double figures, led by Elgin Brown at 18.8ppg and David West at 18.0ppg.
Northampton enters the contest with a record of 4-6 (2-3 Region XIX) after defeating Sussex County Community College, 86-77, on December 3rd.
Josh Vargas lead the Spartans in scoring at 22.0ppg and rebounding (6.3rpg), while Brian Smith (10.7ppg) and
Elliot Gumbs (10.7ppg) are also scoring in double figures.
Game time is set for 7:00pm, immediately following the women's matchup which tips at 5:00pm.
