BETHLEHEM, PA - The Northampton baseball team will travel to Sewell, NJ on Saturday to face Gloucester County College in a Region XIX doubleheader.
The Spartans, 7-9 overall and 6-6 in Region XIX, need to win two of the their last four games to secure a spot in the Region XIX playoffs.
Gloucester County, the 8th ranked team in the NJCAA, is 22-7 overall and 10-1 in Region XIX. The Road Runners, a NJCAA College World Series participant last season, are fighting for the top seed in the upcoming playoffs with Brookdale and Camden.
Sophomore
Jimmy Williams will get the ball in game one, as the Spartans look to stop the high-powered Gloucester offense. The Spartan offense has come to life over the last couple of weeks, led by sophomore
Keith Sacarakis and freshman
Greg Kolaronda. Sacarakis hit two homeruns in the Spartans sweep of Middlesex on Thursday and Kolaronda had two more hits to keep his batting average over .400 for the season.
