Vargas scores season-high 36 points to lead NCC
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Josh Vargas scored a season-high 36 points to help lead Northampton to a 93-66 victory over Cumberland Community College on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans, who defeated Atlantic Cape Community College Friday night, returned to the court 18 hours later and scored 54 first half points to take a commanding 14 point lead into the halftime break over the Dukes.

Courtney Thomas poured in a season-high 19 points and hauled down 8 rebounds and Tony Shy added 10 points and 7 rebounds to pace a Spartans balanced attack.

"The guys did a good job getting themselves mentally ready to play today," replied Head Coach Kevin Foley, "we had a quick turnaround, but they are focused on our goal of qualifying for the postseason and they knew how important this game was toward achieving that goal."

The Spartans improve to 8-8 overall and 6-5 in Region XIX.

NCC will host Passaic County Community College on Tuesday night at 7:30pm on SpartaNation night.

Roger Loatman led Cumberland with 37 points.
