BETHLEHEM, Pa. - NCC women's basketball coach
Art Wolfe won his 350th game as the Spartans upset nationally-ranked Cumberland County College, 63-54, on Saturday afternoon.
After trailing 28-20 at the half, the Spartans switched to a man-to-man defense which sparked several fast break baskets, allowing NCC to outscore the Dukes 43-26 in the second half.
Ashley Slater scored 17 points, dished out 4 assists and recorded 6 steals, while
Ciara Mbonu added 15 points and 8 rebounds and
Krista Ruhle chipped in with 13 points as the Spartans won their third consecutive game.
Wolfe, in his 20fth season at the helm of the Spartans, improved his career mark to 350-142 (71%).
Northampton, which improves to 8-8 overall and 7-3 in Region XIX, hosts 10th ranked Passaic County Community College on Tuesday January 19th at 5:30pm.
Lydia Rentas led Cumberland (11-3) with 16 points.
