BETHELHEM, Pa. - Northampton men's basketball coach Kevin Foley has named Josh Vargas, Elliot Gumbs and Ralph Padilla as his 2010-11 team captains.

Vargas, a 2nd Team All-Region selection, returns for his sophomore season after finishing 7th in the country in scoring (23.3ppg) during his freshman campaign.  The 6-1 guard scored 583 points which ranks second in school history for points in a season.

Gumbs, a 5-9 point guard, averaged 8.6 points per game and led the team in assists (3.0) and ranked second in steals (1.38). 

Padilla returns to the court after sitting out last season.  The 2009 Freedom graduate was one of the Lehigh Valley's top players during his senior season season for the Patriots.

"I am really excited about this season," remarked Foley, "we have a good great group of guys that are ready to compete on the NJCAA level."

The Spartans open the 2010-11 season on November 4th when they host Montgomery County Community College.
