BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Head Coach Art Wolfe and the NCC Lady Spartans will tip-off the 2010 season on Thursday November 4th when they host Montgomery County Community College at 6:00pm.
Wolfe, entering his 21st season on the sidelines for Spartans, is coming off an 11-16 season, but one in which the Spartans finished 10-10 in Region XIX and qualified for the postseason in their first year of NJCAA competition.
The veteran mentor earned his 350th career victory on January 16th, 2010 when his Lady Spartans upset nationally-ranked Cumberland County College, 63-54.
After facing Montgomery, the Lady Spartans will face Division II Raritan Valley Community College in the A-1 Limousine / Northampton Tip-Off Tournament on November 6th. NCC will face either Division II Manor College on Sunday or NJCAA National Tournament participant, Onondaga Community College on Sunday.
"We have a tough road ahead of us," stated Wolfe, "but that being said I believe we are much more talented this season, and obviously deeper." The Spartans have 16 student-athletes on the roster, but only two returners; Ciara Mbonu and Jen Heitzman. "No question we are young, but that is just part of the business at the 2-year level, obviously this is a very difficult Region, but if we play up to our ability, I see us as a tournament team."
