PATERSON, NJ - Dwayne Bellamy hit a driving layup with no time left to send the game to overtime and Mike Gilbert hit two free throws with 3.9 seconds left in overtime to give Passaic County Community College a 102-101 victory over Northampton on Tuesday night.
Freshman
Al Blount scored 30 points and dished out 6 assists for the Spartans, who fall to 1-1 in Region XIX with the loss. "Great game for the fans, but heartwrenching game to lose," remarked Kevin Foley, head coach of the Spartans, "Passaic is very athletic and we knew they could score. Obviously we did not get that one key stop or take care of business at the foul line (17 for 29), either one of those could have changed the outcome.'
Ike Robinson scored 27 points and grabbed 5 rebounds,
Josh Vargas added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and
Tyvon Efferson had 9 points and a team-high 11 boards.
Northampton, now 4-3 overall, travels to Union County College on November 30th.
