BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Sophomore
Josh Vargas moved into 7th place this weekend on the NCC men's basketball all-time scoring list, surpassing former standouts Todd Ott and Jim Phelan. Vargas is now 176 points away from surpassing career points leader Richard Johnson.
Vargas, who is averaging 17.5ppg this season, has scored 776 points in his 36 games as a Spartan (21.6ppg).
In other men's basketball news, freshman
Isaac Robinson is currently 3rd in the country in scoring at 23.8ppg. The 6'4" forward recently set the NCC single game scoring record when he scored 44 points in a victory over Bergen Community College, breaking the previous record of 42.
Freshman
Al Blount is ranked 21st in the country in assists, averaging 5.6apg. Blount recently had double-figure assist games which both ranked in the top 5 in school history. Blount is also averaging 17.3ppg.
As a team, the Spartans are ranked 8th in the country in offense, averaging 86.6ppg.
The Spartans, 8-5 overall (5-2 in Region XIX), host Sussex County Community College on December 14th.
