BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Freshman
Al Blount scored 21 points and dished out 6 assists as the NCC men's basketball team used a 12-2 run to pull away from a 30-26 lead and take a 42-28 advantage early in the second half en route to an 82-61 victory over Sussex County Community College on Tuesday night.
Isaac Robinson scored 19 points and
Josh Vargas continued his assault on the all-time scoring chart at NCC, adding 17 more points to his total, bringing him to within 159 points of the record.
"I was very nervous about this game," stated Head Coach Kevin Foley, "their record is very deceiving, they have been in every game ... so I am very relieved to get this victory. I thought we did a good job moving the ball around getting open looks, but we still need to do a better job on the boards. We are giving up too many second and third chances."
Ralph Padilla added 16 points and 12 rebounds for NCC which improves to 9-5 overall and 6-2 in Region XIX.
The Spartans travel to Camden County College on Saturday.
Sussex falls to 3-8 with the loss.
