SEWELL, NJ - Poor shooting cost the NCC men's basketball team as they fell in the championship game of the Gloucester County College Holiday Tournament to Burlington County College, 62-57, on Saturday afternoon.
NCC trailed NJCAA Division II Burlington by 13 points midway through the second half before cutting the lead to 1 with 30 seconds remaining, but BCC was able to hang on to earn the tournament title.
"We battled a quality Division II team tonight," stated Head Coach Kevin Foley, "but in the end we are not in this for moral victories ... I thought we had a chance down the stretch, but credit Burlington and their coaching staff, they had a good game plan and stuck to it."
Ike Robinson (24 points) and Al Blount (15 points) were named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Spartans, now 6-4 overall and 3-1 in Region XIX, return to regional action on December 7th when they travel to Bergen County College.
