BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The NCC men's and women's basketball teams will play host to the Skylanders of Sussex County Community College on Tuesday February 2nd, in a Region XIX doubleheader starting at 5:00pm.
The Lady Spartans, who defeated Sussex 67-52 on December 3rd, will look to snap a five-game losing streak, which has been predicated by slow starts and a struggling offense. "We need to play from the opening tip," stated Head Coach Art Wolfe, "the last few games it seems like we need to get down 15 points before we start to play."
NCC, which is 8-13 overall and 7-8 in Region XIX, is still in the playoff hunt, but must finish 3-2 to secure a playoff spot. "We know the scenario," explained Wolfe, "it is in our hands."
Coach Foley and the men's team find themselves in a similar position at 9-13 overall and 7-10 in Region XIX. "We need to win," remarked Foley, "there are no two ways about it ... we need to finish 4-1 in our final 5 games to have a shot at the playoffs ... we have no room for error."
The Spartans defeated Sussex earlier in the season, 86-77, at the Skylander Center.
