Spartans Fall on the Road, 90-77, at Cumberland

VINELAND, NJ - Cumberland's Roger Loatman scored 30 points, including his 1000th career point, to lead the Dukes to a 90-77 victory over NCC on Monday night.

The Spartans, who found themselves in a 49-33 hole at the half, battled back during the second stanza, but could not overcome the hot-shooting Dukes.  Eric Mills scored 24 points for Cumberland on 8 3-pointers and Sal Yusuff added 18 to lead the charge.

Josh Vargas scored 23 points and pulled down 7 rebounds to lead Northampton, while Joe Bamford and Elliot Gumbs added 13 apiece.

"I want these guys to understand the importance of these next two games," exclaimed Head Coach Kevin Foley, "I understand that we are out of playoff contention, but we still need to battle ... we still have things to play for ... we need to play Northampton basketball."

The loss drops NCC to 9-16 overall and 7-13 in Region XIX.

The Spartans host Brookdale Community College tonight at 6:00pm in a Region XIX doubleheader, with the women to follow at 8:00pm.
