BETHLEHEM, Pa. - NCC freshman guard Mike Wilson scored 18 of his 21 points in the second half to lead the Spartans to a 91-82 victory over Brookdale Community College on Tuesday night.
The Spartans, who led 43-42 at the break, rode the 3-point shooting of Wilson (4 total) and the strong offensive play of
Josh Vargas (19 points),
Elliot Gumbs (16 points) and
Joe Bamford (16 points) to earn their 10th victory of the season. Vargas finished one assist shy of a triple-double, ending with 12 rebounds and 9 assists.
"I couldn't be prouder of these guys," stated Head Coach Kevin Foley, "they gave me everything they had ... this a good win for our program, hopefully we can finish on a high note on Thursday night at Atlantic Cape."
The win improves the Spartans to 10-16 overall and 8-13 in Region XIX.
The Spartans conclude the 2009-10 season on Thursday when they travel to Mays Landing, NJ to face Atlantic Cape Community College.
Darick Starlings led Brookdale (9-13) with 24 points.
