VINELAND, NJ - The NCC women's basketball team, ranked 7th in the latest NJCAA national poll, returned to action after a 3 week layoff to defeat Cumberland County College, 72-53, on Saturday afternoon.
April Andrews scored 22 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and had 4 steals to lead a balanced Spartan attack. Dee Brown added 15 points and 4 steals and
Michelle Thomas came off the bench and dished out 6 assists and grabbed 7 rebounds.
"It took us awhile to shake off the rust," commented Head Coach
Art Wolfe, "but once we got our rhythm in the second half I thought we played pretty well."
The Spartans, who trailed 35-33 at halftime, outscored the Dukes 39-18 in the second half.
The win improves NCC to 13-3 overall and 9-1 in Region XIX.
The Spartans host Passaic County Community College on January 18th.
