BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Northampton sophomore guard Josh Vargas continues to inch closer to the all-time NCC men's basketball scoring mark, trailing record-holder Richard Johnson (1985-87) by only 60 points.

Vargas moved up to third on the career points list with his 18 point effort at Cumberland County College on January 15th, giving him 891 moving him ahead of Pete Buis (882) and Jules Roderick (886). 

Next in line for Vargas is Hassan Beyah (1995-97) who scored 940 points, averaging 16.8ppg during his 56 game Spartan career.

Vargas could set the record on January 27th vs. Middlesex County College, if he continues on his current 18.1ppg pace.

The Spartans, who are currently 11-6 overall and 8-3 in Region XIX, host Union County College on Thursday January 20th at 7:00pm.
