PARAMUS, NJ - The NCC women's basketball team won their 8th consecutive game, downing Bergen Community College, 78-43, on Saturday afternoon.
Dee Brown scored 16 points and had 5 steals and
Kiersten Young added 16 off the bench for the Spartans, who held Bergen to only 17 first half points.
"Once again our defense really stepped up," stated Head Coach
Art Wolfe, "we are not as talented offensively this year as we were last season, but our defense has really improved and has been the key to our success so far."
Shana Clark added 10 rebounds and
Halie Cintron dished out a team-high 7 assists to lead Northampton.
NCC improves to 8-2 overall and 7-0 in Region XIX.
Next up for the Spartans is a matchup with defending Region XIX champion Brookdale Community College on December 15th. The Jersey Blues, ranked 8th in the nation, are currently 7-0 in Region XIX, tied with NCC for first place.
"It should be a great game," remarked Wolfe, "I am really looking forward to it ... they are the standard bearer .... until someone knocks them off, they are the team to beat."
