BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The NCC women's basketball team picked up their 10th victory of the season with a convincing 71-49 victory over Montgomery County Community College on Tuesday evening.
The Spartans jumped out to a 42-33 halftime lead behind 12 points from
Kiersten Young and 10 from
Halie Cintron and then held the Mustangs to only 16 points in the second half in earning the 22 point victory.
"Once again our defense was key," commented Head Coach
Art Wolfe, "we switched defenses in the second half and it seemed to slow them down enough for us to make a run and put the game away."
Young finished with 16 points and Cintron added 21, while
Dee Brown had 16 points and 3 steals.
Michelle Thomas grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds.
NCC improves to 10-3 overall and 9-1 in Region XIX.
Montgomery falls to 7-4 overall and 7-4 in conference play.
Northampton closes out the semester on Thursday when they travel to Cumberland County College, gametime is 6pm.
